While it is no fun dealing with osteoarthritis, disc degeneration, and cervical radiculopathy/stenosis, my experience having Dr. Ortega as my orthopedic surgeon has been truly amazing!
After my initial doctor moved away, I was nervous about having a new person take on my case, certain that my records wouldn't be enough for them to understand my medical history and my personal narrative. I was concerned that something critical would be missing when transitioning to a new surgeon; however, my care from Dr. Ortega has proven otherwise.
While it is inevitable that surgery will eventually be required, Dr. Ortega has provided alternative methods for pain management and preventative care that have improved my quality of life and seemingly "paused" the degeneration of my spine and the decline of my condition. Not only has my treatment plan minimized my pain and alleviated my discomfort, it has also allowed me to postpone the urgent need for surgery. It is hard to believe that when I first saw him as a patient, I had trouble turning doorknobs, sitting down, and among other things, walking. It was visibly apparent that I had a physical impairment that impacted my day to day life, and I confess that I was often embarrassed when I would limp or yelp in pain, or get stuck sitting down, often requiring the assistance of others.
Now, I walk with confidence that I look as good as I feel, and I know that when the day comes for surgery, I will be just as confident, knowing that my spine is in HIS hands!
Dr. Ortega is an angel!
